I am constantly up and down on my feet and wear heels quite often which often makes the heels of my feet crusty and that is really unattractive! I normally use my ped-egg , pumice stone or Scholl express pedi to remove the harden skin. I was given the opportunity to try something different by Skinapeel which was their Peeling & Exfoliating Foot Mask socks.
Skinapeel claim that these socks contain vital ingredients that effectively penetrate into stubborn calluses and will:
- Soften Hard Skin, Foot Calluses & Chapping Skin
- Effectively Penetrate Into Stubborn Foot Calluses
- Remove Foot Calluses & Soften the Feet in 3- 7 Day
The combination of Aloe, Cucumber and Deep Sea Algae means that the skin is left moisturised, relieved and repaired.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to these socks as the concept is strange but interesting.
Inside the packet were 2 red stickers, in-depth instructions and 2 “socks”. The socks aren’t actually socks but instead plastic bags which you slip your feet into and then put socks on over. This surprised me as I thought I would be receiving actual socks. The plastic socks were sealed and filled with a cloudy solution. I had to cut them to create an opening so that I could put my feet into them.
I am a UK 6.5 and my feet fit perfectly into these socks. I think it would be a tight fit in these socks if you’re a UK size 7 and up, which kind of rules out most men, unfortunately. The red tape was used to seal the socks once they were on my feet and then I put on some thick socks on top. The solution felt really cold on my feet at first but either I got used to them or they warmed up over time.
After 30 minutes, I washed the solution off and dried my feet and was left with extremely dry feet. The skin on the top of my feet was really tight and wrinkly, it felt really strange which I didn’t like. My feet stayed like this for 4 days without any signs of peeling. No matter how many different creams I used, my feet remained wrinkly. They looked like they belonged to a 90 year old.
By day 6, I finally noticed some peeling albeit a small amount. It is now day 9 and my feet look like they came out of a horror movie!
My feet have peeled in patches. I don’t want to pull the skin off as I don’t want to damage my feet in any way so I have left them half peeling off. I tried to scrub off what I can in the shower with my pumice stone but that barely worked and hurt a bit.
Overall, I can say that the areas of my feet that have peeled off are extremely soft and smooth, like a baby’s foot. However it is really embarrassing having disgusting peeling feet for such a long time. I hope the process finishes soon and I definitely wouldn’t be doing this again…..back to my old faithful pumice stone!
