Nailbox – July 2016: Paradise has arrived!

If like me, you constantly switch up your nail polish throughout the month then Nailbox is the perfect subscription box for you. Every month, Nailbox sends five items (three nail polishes and  two nail tools or decorations) for only £15!

The theme for this month is Paradise and the colours definitely embodied this theme!

IMG_9842.JPG

This month, I received 3 full sized nail polishes, a nail treatment and a nail tool.

Here’s a closer look into my July box:

Nailberry Coconut Nail Balm (RRP £12)

Firstly, this smells divine! If you love the smell of coconuts then you will love this nail balm, it truly follows¬†the theme and made me think of laying on a beach with a pina colada! Whilst it’s a small pot, a little goes a long way. It is made with¬† Coconut, Jojoba, Olive, Bee wax and Coconut fragrance. This balm is perfect for moisturising my cuticles, especially with my constant use of polish remover.

True Brit London Nail Varnish in The Summer House (RRP £12.50)

True Brit’s packaging is just simply superb, the box alone is luxurious. This polish is a nude brown which has a slight gold undertone. The formula of this polish is perfect in terms of application. For a nude, this polish is well pigmented so it only needs two thin coats.

Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish in Soho Palace (RRP £14)

I really like Nails Inc’s gel effect polishes as they use¬†Nail Inc’s¬†plasticiser technology¬†and the usual wide brush for perfect coverage,¬†so I was happy to see this in my box. This polish is an aqua blue/turquoise¬†that reminds me of the sea in the Caribbean. It¬†is extremely pigmented, I could get away with one coat and I would still have beautiful shiny nails.

Angelica Polish in Snow White (RRP £2.75)

I have never heard of Angelica nail polish before but it seems to be good quality nail polish for such a good price! The price has no way affected the formula or the coverage. This shade is a nice opaque white and only needs one coat which is rare for white polishes. I will be sure to purchase some more Angelica polishes.

Brush Works Toe Separators (RRP £2.49)

This was the only let down for me in this box as I don’t really think anyone uses toe separators any more. I can’t see myself using these at all but they could come in handy if I were to give someone a pampering gift basket.

Overall I am impressed with this month’s box, the quality has picked back up again. The value of the box is well above what I paid and that always makes me happy to know I got a bargain! With so many subscription boxes available now, I think Nailbox should update their packaging a bit and add a sweet or something (who doesn’t love food?).

Scentpick – July 2016

Picking a new perfume can be a really tough decision. There have been numerous occasions where I have smelt and tested over 20 perfumes, picked 1 and then not liked it once I got home. For me, this is extremely annoying especially as perfume is not cheap!

I have really been into subscription boxes lately and have been on the look out for a new one that is worthwhile and affordable. I stumbled across Scentpick on Twitter and I instantly loved the idea of it.

IMG_9700

Scentpick is a new monthly subscription for perfume. Every month you get to pick a new designer fragrance to wear from a selection of 6 and then Scentpick sends you a 30 day supply for £9.99 (including p&p). Your first order of Scentpick is £4.99 and you get a cute reusable case which you can then use for your future picks. Scentpick send your chosen fragrance on the 22nd of the month so you receive it at the end of each month between the 27th and 29th.

IMG_9701

The fragrance¬†comes in a padded envelope which is great as¬†it¬†can just be posted through the letterbox so I don’t have to worry about going to the sorting office. Inside the envelope, the perfume¬†comes packaged in soft¬†pink tissue paper secured with a Scentpick sticker. Alongside the perfume, there is a card which confirms your choice of perfume and provides further information about the notes.

For July, I had the choice of the following perfumes to pick from:

  1. Dot by Marc Jacobs
  2. Diamonds by Emporio Armani
  3. Friction Her by FCUK
  4. Bamboo by Gucci
  5. Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana
  6. Beautiful by Estee Lauder

I chose Friction Her by FCUK as I love sweet scents and the description of this perfume truly appealed to me. “Think of sipping a Pina Colada on the beach! A fun, light, creamy coconut, tropical, vanilla scent for the summer.”¬†I love the smell of Vanilla and who doesn’t love a Pina Colada?

FullSizeRender (6)

Friction Her is a¬†soft¬†creamy coconut scent that’s mixed¬†with some fruity tropical notes (I think this must be the red berries).¬†I find the vanilla, apple blossom and red berry notes more dominant on my skin than the coconut. It stays this way for a few hours before settling into the dry-down, which consists of the creamy coconut scent, toning down a lot of the sweetness. Overall, this fragrance is perfectly topical without smelling cheap. It’s well blended and smells luxurious.

I really enjoyed my first Scentpick and I love the concept.¬†It‚Äôs a great way to try new perfumes for a while before deciding¬†to purchase a full size bottle. alternatively, it is a great way to consistently switch up your scent and in Scentpick‘s words “keep them guessing”!¬†I am enjoying my Friction Her perfume and I’m looking forward to seeing what the August¬†perfumes will be.

Pink Parcel – July Box 2016

It’s that time of the month, which I am actually excited about. Bizarre isn’t it? Well, Pink Parcel definitely makes the idea of Aunt Flow coming seem ok.

Pink Parcel is a monthly subscription box which offers 3 dispatch dates for you to choose from, based on your time of the month so you can be sure to receive your box before your period is due. This box removes any and every monthly cycle worries you may have as you are able to choose your preferred brand of sanitary products so your box is specific to you. It is only £10.50 per month (postage is free) and you get your first box for £6.95! Be sure to read about what was inside my June box.

IMG_9574

I was a bit worried when I received my box this month as the seal was broken (as shown in the picture above). Luckily, the products inside my box weren’t tampered with and nothing was missing.

IMG_9576

As always, I received my period essentials for the month with the super cute drawstring bags. Although I have a tampon only subscription, I also received some pads for bedtime. I think this is a great addition to the box as it alleviates any fears during the night and you can have a peaceful sleep.

So onto the lifestyle and beauty products, as per usual Pink Parcel sent some great goodies!

IMG_9580

  1. A full sized¬†Bellapierre Gel Eye Liner in Ebony (RRP ¬£14) which is amazing! The consistency is perfect and it applies really well. Furthermore, this gel liner is great for all types of weather as it is smudge-proof and waterproof….what more could you ask for?
  2. Continuing with beauty, I received a Jelly Pong Pong Supercharged Eyeshadow Duo in Lightning (RRP £17.95). The shades are gold and charcoal  so it would be perfect for a smokey eye look. They are both highly pigmented and appear to be long-lasting.
  3. A beyond beautiful pair of¬†Vintage Cosmetic Company Slanted Rose Gold Tweezers (RRP ¬£8). Firstly, I really needed a new pair of tweezers and secondly this was an¬†exclusive launch in this month‚Äôs Pink Parcel. They aren’t yet available to purchase so that made me feel even more special (thanks Pink Parcel!). Because of this exclusive launch, I also received a little Vintage Cosmetic Company nail file with a 20% discount¬†code for their website.
  4. As you know, I have a love for nail polish so I was happy to see Lottie London Polish in Rainy Days (RRP £5.99). This is a lovely nude brown colour that I cannot wait to try out.
  5. Continuing with nail and hand care, there was a Patisserie De Bain Hand Cream in Strawberry Cream (RRP £3.99). This cream smells utterly delicious and left my hands feeling soft and moisturised.
  6. Pink Parcel were kind enough to ensure my feet also get moisturised by sending a¬†a 15ml sachet of Freeman Bare Foot Lavender & Mint Foot Cream (RRP ¬£1.50). This cream keeps you feet soft, moisturised and fresh which is essential now that the sun is out. The only negative to this cream is that the packet isn’t resealable but there is enough for multiple uses so it might go to waste.
  7. There was chocolate this month!!! Well…kind of! A pack of¬†Bahlsen Choco Leibniz biscuits¬†were included this month. Even though they were slightly melted, they tasted delicious!
  8. Last but certainly not least is a luxurious La Via Del Te Tisana Sweet Relax Tea bag . This tea is sold in Harrods and has a  sweet natural flavour of wild strawberry.

Again, another fantastic box from Pink Parcel. It is great that they are consistent with the quality of their boxes. I think this is the best subscription box around at the moment as it definitely caters to every female.

Nailbox – June 2016: Festival Fever!

If you have read my previous posts, you would have gathered that my Nailbox subscriptions have not kept me excited. I have already gotten over the novelty of it all. Therefore I didn’t expect much from this month’s box.

However, this month’s cute Festival Fever¬†shades definitely sparked my interest!

IMG_9392

This month I received 4 full sized nail polishes and a pack of nail art.

Here’s a closer look at what was in my June box:

Elegant Touch ‚Äď Stylist Nail Art Tape Metallic (RRP ¬£3.95)

I am not the best at nail art, in fact unless it is a French tip or dotting I am absolutely rubbish! These metallic strips are really easy to use and easily make my nails look like they have been professionally done.

Essie ‚Äď Jazzy Jubilant (RRP ¬£7.99)

I loved the gold glitter polish by Essie that I received in one of the previous Nailboxes so I was excited to see a variation of it in this box. This glitter polish has turquoise and ¬†pink specks of various sized glitter. I wouldn’t say the application of this polish is as good as the gold one as it takes a few coats to get good coverage.

Rimmel ‚Äď Cheeky Chap Sweetie Heart Matte Polish (RRP ¬£3.99)

This is such a beautiful pastel powder blue by Rimmel with a matte finish. I am not really fond of matte polishes as after a few days they turn shiny due to using hair and body products. I will probably use a shiny top coat when wearing this colour.

OPI ‚Äď Is Mai Tai Crooked? (RRP ¬£12.50)

Firstly, I LOVE the name of this polish….it did make me giggle! I am a big fan of OPI polishes so I was extremely happy to add to my ever growing collection. This colour definitely goes with festival theme. It is a peachy orange which has attracted a lot of compliments!

Bourjois ‚Äď Turquoise Gel 1 Second Polish (RRP ¬£5.99)

I love Bourjois nail polishes as the brushes are amazing at giving an even coverage. This polish is a lovely bold turquoise colour which claims to give a dry gel finish within 1 second. As you can imagine, this claim is not true but it does dry quite quickly!

Overall, I think Nailbox have definitely got back on my good side so I won’t be cancelling any time soon. There were no bright pinks this month and the polishes were quality! The value of this box was¬†¬£34.46 and I only paid ¬£15 so once again, a great bargain!

Pink Parcel ‚Äď June Box 2016

Pink Parcel is a monthly subscription box which offers 3 dispatch dates for you to choose from, based on your time of the month so you can be sure to receive your box before your period is due. From my previous posts, you might have gathered that Pink Parcel care a lot about their customers. As a result of some recent customer feedback, they have made some small changes to the boxes. There will no longer be any SASS feminine products, there will be less sanitary products (to be fair, I was collecting enough tampons to open my own shop!) and the price has reduced to £10.50!!!

Furthermore, this box featured an apology from Pink Parcel because the colour of the box was slightly darker than previous boxes! I personally didn’t even notice because I was too excited and focused on opening the box. This just shows how much they care about the quality of the boxes.

FullSizeRender[1]

As usual, I received my period essentials for the month with the super cute drawstring bags. Although I have a tampon only subscription, I also received some pads for bedtime. I think this is a great addition to the box as it alleviates any fears during the night and you can have a peaceful sleep.

So onto the lifestyle and beauty products, as per usual Pink Parcel sent some great goodies!

FullSizeRender[2]

  1. A full sized Model Co Power Lash Mascara (RRP £24) which has now become one of my favourite mascaras! This mascara promises to lengthen your lashes with its unique formula and non clumping applicator brush. It definitely fulfills its promises!
  2. A Bubble T macaroon lip balm (RRP £10 for a set of 5)in lemongrass and green tea. I have not used any Bubble T products before but the packaging of this lip balm is really cute. It is really moisturising and left my lips feeling soft and smooth.
  3. As mentioned before, I love scented candles so I was happy to see a White Jasmine scented Wax Melt from Imperial Candles¬†(RRP ¬£1.99). As an extra gift, 10 random subscribers will receive¬†a wax melt with a piece of jewellery in it. Unless the jewellery is embedded in the middle of the melt, I don’t think I was one of those lucky subscribers.
  4. Purifying facial wash and matte finish moisturising cream by Amie Naturally Kind  (RRP £1) which are the perfect size to take on holiday or a quick weekend away.
  5. Continuing with face care,¬†a Star Glow ¬†Ooharr ¬†Face Mask (RRP ¬£1.50) which aims to cleanse and revitalise skin ‚Äď leaving it soft, smooth, supple and radiant by its mixture of natural ingredients and natural clay¬† to detoxify skin and draw out impurities.
  6. I am not the best at nail art but Pink Parcel have my back by including a pack of NPW Halo Nail Stickers & Gems (RRP £1.50).
  7. Bandzee hair bands (RRP £4.95) are revolutionary hair bands. Made from super-soft elastic trim, they prevent any tugging, snapping or hair breakage. They can even be worn as bracelets.
  8. No chocolate this month unfortunately but still a treat, Joe & Sephs Gourmet Salted Caramel Popcorn.
  9. Last but not least,¬†a Tea Shed Emergency Tea Teabag¬†which wasn’t a fancy flavour like previous boxes just simple English Breakfast but delicious nonetheless.

Overall, it is great to see that Pink Parcel take their customer service really seriously and have shown that they listen to their customers. The products were great this month, so the reduced price didn’t affect the quality of the box. In fact, for ¬£10.50 it has incredible value!

Nailbox – May 2016 : Tutti Frutti

As much as I love nail polish, I haven’t been too excited about my Nailbox subscription any more. I was however looking forward to seeing what would be in May’s box as it had the theme Tutti Frutti, which is perfect for Summer.

IMG_8780

This month I received 3 full sized nail polishes, a nail treatment and a nail file.

Here’s a closer look at what was in my May¬†box:

Cuccio¬†¬†‚Äď Mint Condition¬†(RRP ¬£4.86)

This is a brand I have never used before so I intrigued about how well it would apply. This is a¬†pastel mint green colour which is something I wouldn’t normally go for but is really nice. The application was easy as the brush provided great coverage.

Essie ‚Äď Haute in the Heat (RRP ¬£7.99)

What can I say but another bright pink nail polish! I know I previously mentioned that I like bright pink polish but not this much! This is the third one so far and I honestly wish I received a different colour to try.  I generally like Essie polishes as they are really opaque and shiny, have great consistency and are long lasting.

ORLY ‚Äď Orange Punch (RRP ¬£10.50)

I have heard of Orly before and they have great reviews as a nail polish brand, so I was really excited to see this one. It is an extremely bright orange colour which perfect for Summer. It has great coverage as it was bold after just one coat. I will definitely be using this one often.

Elegant Touch Nail Apothecary ‚Äď Nail Growth¬†(RRP ¬£7.95)

This treatment polish is a base coat which promises¬†to promote nail growth and strengthen the nails with its¬†salon strength formula enriched with silk, vitamin, proteins and oils.¬† I haven’t tried this one yet but I am sure it will work well like the others I have received.

Stylfile ‚Äď VIP Leopard Nail File ¬£4.99

This is a very interesting nail file, I have never seen a ‘S’ shaped nail file before. It is ‘S’ shaped because your nails are curved so the curved nail file makes filing quick and easy, even when using your non-dominant hand. I loved the leopard print detail as it is furry which is definitely different!

Overall, I was quite impressed with this month’s Nail box ¬†apart from the repetition of the hot pink. Hopefully there is more of a variety next month. Once again, the box was great value for money as in total, the products were worth ¬£36.29

Pink Parcel – April Box 2016

If you have read my previous post, you will know that I received my April Pink Parcel box a bit late due to technical errors. However, Pink Parcel were fantastic in ensuring I received it in the end.

I have to say that I am ecstatic that I did receive this box as I think it is the best one I have received so far!

It is only £12.95 per month (postage is free) and you get your first box for £9.95! Be sure to read about what was inside my March box.

As usual, I received a more than adequate amount of period essentials for the month as well the super cute drawstring bags. I love these drawstring bags as they really do come in handy.

IMG_8578

Just like in my February box, I received a feminine hygiene product¬†and this time it was the SASS Purifying Cleanser (RRP ¬£8) which unfortunately didn’t have a quote on it (I do secretly look forward to reading those!).

IMG_8577

This cleanser has been specially created to ensure that you are left feeling fresh throughout the day.

Now onto my favourite part of the box, the lifestyle and beauty products!

FullSizeRender

  1. Full sized Boozi Body Care Hand Cream in French Martini (RRP £3.95) which simply smells AMAZING! I love sweet smells and this cream definitely does it for me. This cream is lightweight and very hydrating. It left my hands nice and smooth with a lingering exotic scent of raspberries and pineapples.
  2. A NPW Pomegranate & Paw Paw Face Mask (RRP £1.85) which left my face feeling fresh and rejuvenated.
  3. As a lover of nail polish, I was excited to see the True Brit London Nail Polish (RRP £12.50) which had been specially created for Pink Parcel subscribers to match the Pink Parcel logo. The shade is a cute girly pink which I would pick out for myself.
  4. The real superstar of the month was the New CID Cosmetics product. There was the opportunity to get one of three products. I received the iPout Lipstick (RRP £18) in the shade Pink Bliss. This lipstick is revolutionary, it comes with a mirror on the side of the lid and has a built in torch. With this you are able to touch up wherever you are, even at a nightclub.
  5. There was a nice savoury treat this time as Pink Parcel promoted¬†World Health Day by including a pack of Nairn’s Rough Oatcakes (RRP ¬£1.29). These oatcakes are perfect for providing you with an energy boost due to the high fibre and complex carbohydrates. I only managed to get a bite before my boyfriend took the rest….he loved them!
  6. To satisfy that sweet craving you normally get whilst on your period the Mallow & Marsh Bar in Raspberry flavour (RRP ¬£18 for a case of twelve). As I’m not a huge fan of dark chocolate, this bar wasn’t for me but my daughter truly enjoyed it.
  7. I really enjoy the range of teas I have tried, thanks to Pink Parcel. The Teapigs Chamomile Flowers Tea (RRP £1.30 for two)  is no exception. The tea bag alone is beautiful and the flavour was strong but tasty.
  8. Last but not least¬†Pink Parcel gave us¬†a tasty surprise due to ¬†the tampon tax being abolished which was Chocolate Smiley Face by Cocoba. I definitely want to buy more of these as it hand small pieces of caramel in it…simply delicious.

IMG_8569

This is officially the best Pink Parcel box so far. The products¬†were simply of great quality and carefully chosen.¬†It is obvious that there is a high level of care and thoughtfulness goes into these boxes each month. Roll on May’s box!!
